History

The first worship celebration service of Christ Community was held on Sunday, November 2, 1997 in the old gymnasium of Clayton High School.

On Sunday, October 10, 1999, we had our Constituting Conference in which 122 charter members were fully united with the United Methodist Church.

We met in the high school for 5 years, sometimes in the gymnasium, sometimes in the cafeteria, and sometimes in the auditorium.

We had the first worship service in the sanctuary of our current building at 1082 Amelia Church Road, on Sunday, January 26, 2003.

Our first pastor, Greg Jenks, was with us through the first year in the building.

He was followed in June of 2004 by Vann Spivey, who served at Christ Community for 6 years.

In June of 2006, Javier Montanez was added to our pastoral staff as the associate pastor of Hispanic Ministry.

Pastor Keith Miller, our current senior pastor, began serving in June of 2010.

Over the years we have grown to a congregation of over 400 members.
